I felt like I had been lied to. The whole concept of "speeding tickets save lives" is a lie, in my opinion. When crashes occur, speed really isn't to blame in the fact that the crash took place. Speeding may have made the crash worse, but it isn't the root of the problem. Driver distraction and inexperience are the main causes, not speed. When someone gets killed in a crash, the news article will say "speed was a factor," making it sounds like speed is this silent killer that will suffocate you in your sleep. Speed doesn't kill. Stupidity, distraction and inexperience do. /rant_mode_off Back to the post. I'm sure I was speeding, on a deserted road at 1am, but I highly doubt I was doing exactly 15mph over, which would put me in the next speeding ticket price bracket. The truth of the matter is that officer douchebag pulled that "60" mph out of his ass, wrote it on my ticket and had the audacity to tell me he used radar for that imaginary speed. Anyway, the V1 really only makes sense for highway driving. Intelligent drivers speed all the time, yet keep themselves and others safe while other stupid drivers complain, crash and die, making the intelligent drivers pay for their mistakes through increased traffic laws, tickets and other methods that the public is brainwashed into thinking that make roads safer.
